The New Zealand Ministry of Health has expanded the age eligibility of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines from age 18 to age 26. It is now free for BOTH male and female who has NEVER had HPV vaccines (trade name: Gardasil) in the past.

 

HPV vaccine was introduced to the NZ immunisation schedule for FEMALES age 12 years in 2008.

There was a catch-up programme in high schools for females born from 1992 to 1996. This programe ran from 01 Jan 2009 to 31 Dec 2010.

HPV is a very common virus, most sexually active people will come in contact with it at some stage.

HPV infection may go on to cause warts and/or certain cancers.

This is a series of 3 vaccinations (cost is $220 per dose if no longer eligible)

If you want to be on the FREE programme, you must have your first one BEFORE you turn 27 years old.
